It was the first day of high school. Or rather the third week already. Everyone most likely knew each other in class already. All this made it even harder for a certain French boy. Francis' father transferred to London with his job, it was rather short notice. He moved with his wife and son at the end of summer vacation all the way from Paris. It took them some time to get settled and get the application get through.
When Francis was finally accepted the schoolyear had already started. He didn't like it one bit. He didn't like to be the new guy, he also didn't like English kids. Francis still had a lot of struggles with the language. Though he had no choice and with a deep sigh and backpack in tow he walked through the hallways. He followed his homeroom teacher down to his class.
History class was interupted by them entering. "Ah excuse me, this will be quick." one teacher said to another and walked up to the front of room. "Good morning, sorry to interupt your lesson but we happen to have a new student. This is Francis, he just moved which is why he's a bit late. I trust he will be in good hands. Who is your class representative?" the teacher asked looking directly at the students. All the while Francis scanned the room curiously while a 25 pair of eyes were gazing at him.

Arthur was sitting in that history class when the new kid walked in. He studied the light eyes and long blonde hair with a weird feeling growing. He didn't think this new kid was British because he was too flashy to be a gentleman. Arthur didn't really talk to anyone that often, and he knew he wouldn't be getting along with the foreigner anytime soon. With a glance around at his classmates, he noticed some of the girls looking at the new guy with a different look in their eyes.
(I take it we have different views on high school because of the difference in countries. XD)

After formal introductions, in where Francis didn't get to say much, he was told to take a seat. There were some empty tables but it seemed rather anti-social to go sit alone so he took a seat next to blonde messy haired with large eyebrows boy and the lesson continued. Some girls were looking at his neighbor with jealous eyes but Francis just turned a friendly smile to him. "Hello." he said softly.
((Ah yes, sorry my own school system is entirely different than the usa or uk, so you can correct me here and there ^^))

"Hello," Arthur returned, barely looking up at the new kid. He knew he wasn't the best person to sit by since he didn't exactly like people, but he decided to try to be social. "Do you need anything?" he asked the newbie. From what little he heard, he guessed that this guy was French. "Oh, I,'m Arthur," he added.

Francis titled his head. "No, just being polite and saying hi." he said softly and nodded. "Nice to meet you Arthur, I'm Francis but you already know that." he said with a chuckle and sheepish grin. The lesson continued but girls kept eyeing Arthur with jealousy.

Arthur felt the stares as he tried to figure out something to say next to Francis. He secretly wished one of the girls would come over and trade seats with him. No, he told himself, then I'd have to sit with another jealous girl... Plus I don't want to make a scene in front of the class. Arthur settled on just giving Francis a nod, then continued to pay attention to the lesson, glancing over at Francis every now and then.

Francis sighed inwardly. His neighbor didn't really seem delighted with his presence. Well it couldn't be helped. He opened his book and focussed on the history lesson, occasionally making notes. He could try a conversation during the break perhaps. He wasn't so sure he was eager to talk to the British boy next to him.

Arthur slightly felt bad for Francis because he had picked one of the least social kids to sit by on his first day. The class finally ended, and Arthur had no idea if he was going to stay with the French boy or just head off to his next class. He figured that as soon as he left, girls would be lining up. In fact, he thought it was such a great idea that he turned to the closest girl and told her to help Francis with anything that he needed. The girl was more than delighted, and Arthur was able to leave without so much as a goodbye and go to his next class.

"Ah Arth-" but the lad next to him had already left him. And soon enough had been replaced by a girl followed by another three who were all very happy and eager to help him. Arthur hadn't seem to be the helpful type so far, so he accepted the help from the girls. They led him around the school a little and helped him find the next class.

To Arthur's surprise, he didn't have his next class with Francis. However, when he walked into the one after that, he saw Francis sitting there surrounded by girls. One of the girls was in his usual seat, so he sulked off into one closer to the corner and daydreamed about stealing a piece of chalk from the chalkboard, drawing a pentagram, and sending Francis back to France. Not that it would work.
